There are also some very useful online annotation websites out there. Lit Genius, for example, uses crowdsourcing to annotate everything, from song lyrics, to book chapters, and poetry. Furthermore, this site facilitates peer review of the comments, which means that the annotations are generally good, because other uses have had the opportunity to add to the comments and to judge them regarding their quality and inclusiveness.

Although the website’s original intent was to annotate music lyrics, the Genius community has grown by leaps and bounds and they now offer a wide range of services. You can even find several examples from Hopkins’ works annotated in this website, including The Wreck of the Deutschland.
